How It Works
Discover how the IFUNGOO Y04+B2 Electric SUP Motor Kit adds convenient electric propulsion to compatible watercraft. From preparation and setup to wireless control and after-use care, here's what you need to know.
How Does the Y04+B2 Work?
The Y04+B2 combines a compact electric thruster, a rechargeable B2 lithium battery and wireless speed control into one propulsion system.
The battery supplies electrical power to the Y04 motor, which drives a propeller inside a protective ducted housing. This generates thrust to move a compatible paddleboard or watercraft through the water.
The wireless remote lets you select different speed settings, giving you control over the amount of electric assistance during your journey.
Getting Started in 5 Steps
Prepare Your Equipment
Unpack the Y04 thruster, B2 battery, wireless remote and supplied accessories. Inspect the components for visible damage and ensure the battery has been charged according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Check the Mounting System
Identify the fin box or mounting arrangement on your watercraft. Confirm that the Y04 mounting hardware and any required adapter are compatible before attempting installation. Follow the official installation instructions for your mounting type.
Secure the Thruster and Battery
With the system powered off, install the thruster using the correct mounting hardware. Position the B2 battery securely according to the manufacturer's instructions, ensuring that its location does not compromise stability or safe operation.
Connect and Check the System
Connect the thruster to the compatible battery using the supplied connection system. Ensure all connections are properly seated and protected as instructed in the product manual. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for powering on and preparing the wireless remote.
Enter the Water and Start Exploring
Move into suitable water deeper than 0.5 metres, away from swimmers, obstacles and other hazards. Follow the operating instructions to activate propulsion, begin at a low speed and adjust gradually using the wireless remote.
Important: These steps provide a general overview, not a replacement for the official installation manual. Never run or test the propeller out of the water, and never handle the propeller while power is connected.
Wireless Speed Control
The Y04 offers four forward speed settings and one reverse gear, allowing you to adapt propulsion to your surroundings.
- Forward Gears: Four selectable settings, with manufacturer-rated speeds from approximately 1 to 7.6 km/h.
- Reverse Gear: Provides reverse propulsion for appropriate low-speed manoeuvring.
- Wireless Remote: Allows speed adjustments without directly accessing the motor unit.
Actual speed depends on water conditions, craft design, total load and other factors. Always operate at a speed suitable for the conditions.
Battery Power & Runtime
The included B2 lithium battery provides 336Wh of capacity and approximately 60–110 minutes of runtime under the manufacturer's stated operating conditions.
Higher speed settings, heavier loads and challenging water conditions may reduce operating time. Plan your route with enough battery capacity to return safely, and always carry a paddle as a backup means of propulsion.
After Your Ride
- Switch off the propulsion system before removing it from the water.
- Disconnect the battery according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Inspect the propeller housing for debris, fishing line or other obstructions.
- After saltwater use, clean the equipment as instructed by IFUNGOO, using fresh water on the approved components.
- Allow components to dry and store the battery in accordance with the manufacturer's storage recommendations.
Safety Before Every Adventure
Always wear an appropriate personal flotation device, assess weather conditions and keep clear of swimmers and obstacles.
Powered watercraft may be subject to licensing, registration and operating restrictions depending on the Australian state or territory and the type of watercraft.
Read our Safety Precautions before using your equipment.
Is Your Board Compatible?
Before installing the Y04 motor, check your watercraft's fin box, mounting arrangement and available installation space.
